Do you have a basic warm up routine for primary PE lessons?

Obviously it all depends what age the kids are. For example, a child in yr.6 (age 12 in Australia) would have better co-ordination and motor skills then a Kindergarden. So what you would need is something that can cater for all ages. Things that ive used successfully include%3A *duck-duck-goose; but with everyone jogging on the spot, as opposed to sitting down, and; *bullrush- this works fantastically and Ive founds kids of all ages really enjoy it.

set up three lines of coloured cones. Have class in the middle line and explain if you shout colour they must run to that line. Once they get the hang of it. shout a colour and point in other direction. Children love it. Say two colours but they must go to both lines. I usually end with a race with last two or three helping me to see who is last next time until you have a final

octopus tig%3A two catchers are allowed to run about, once people are caught they stand still and try to catch people running past them the last person to get caught wins.

For and U10 and up, I use this for a quick warm up, especially if team arrives late for a game and there is little time for a prolonged warm up. A line with players at each end 10 yards apart. Minimum 2 players one end, 1 player at the other with ball starting with the two player end. Player 1 start with a speed dribble out to player 2 and dribble must stop ball at the player 2s feet. Player 2 speed dribbles back to player 3, and you keep rotating. Perform the following variations for 30 seconds each. Each progressions gets them moving faster, and by the end one touch passing, they should break a sweat, have their heart rate going, and have warm muscles to dynamically stretch.

Form multiple lines if you have more then 6 players, which I hope you do.

What you say:
I have used sportplan in recent months and I find it extremely helpful. Particularly having the facility to create your own lesson plans. The idea to have it link with UKCC Coaching awards is excellent. Keep up the good work!
